A support group for mothers
Around 1 in 5 women will experience mental health difficulties during pregnancy or a year after childbirth. The risks are greater for those living away from familiar support or have recently experienced a major life event, such as relocation.
Sharing Mamas focuses on supporting the mother, offering a non-judgemental space to share your feelings and challenges with others who have been through or are currently going through similar experiences. The group aims to improve the mood, self-confidence and overall wellbeing of each woman as she navigates the ever-changing highs and lows of becoming and being a mother.
What happens in each session?
We will start and close each session with a guided grounding exercise and some gentle singing to help us relax and connect to ourselves and the others in the group. If you’re concerned about this don’t be, the focus is not on how we sound but how the songs make us feel!
We will then share tea and a snack as each participant has the space to reflect on and share (as much or as little as you like!) about their current experience of motherhood. This is an opportunity to speak and be heard and offer listening support to others.
Who is this for?
Pregnant women and mothers with children of any age are welcome to join Sharing Mamas. We ask that you only bring babes-in-arms / pre-crawlers to this group so you can use this time to focus on yourself.
